The Arc of Oblivion, 2023, 98 mins. In a universe that erases its tracks, why are we so hellbent on leaving a trace?

From executive producer Werner Herzog (“Cave of Forgotten Dreams”; “Grizzly Man”) and director Ian Cheney (“King Corn”), THE ARC OF OBLIVION is an unexpectedly playful search for an answer to a deeply existential question. This fascinating  odyssey begins the filmmaker’s quixotic quest to build an ark in a field in Maine, and then heads far afield—to salt mines in the Alps, fjords in the Arctic, and ancient libraries in the Sahara—to illuminate the strange world of archives, record-keeping, and memory. Charmingly off-beat and disarmingly self-aware, the film weaves stop-motion animation, spellbinding cinematography and fascinating interviews from the director's inner circle and experts in the fields of science, culture and art for an embrace of the unknown that is liberating, and leaves viewers space to draw their own conclusions.

Great Falls Harvest is a family owned farm-to-table restaurant, market and test kitchen that uses seasonal local ingredients from regenerative, sustainable food systems. With roots in the slow food movement, Chef Chris Menegoni crafts exciting global cuisine bursting with color, flavor, and texture. Their botanical apothecary creates deep kitchen medicine-of-the-moment, innovative and therapeutic cuisine for times of rapid and unpredictable change.

Spaces to the post-film dinner are extremely limited and include the screening at 5:15pm, followed by a 3-course feast and curated wines at 7:15. Please contact us in advance if you have allergies or dietary restrictions.

THE ARC OF OBLIVION MENU:

Primordial Soup: Beet and Goat Cheese Puree.

Reviving Ancestral Wisdom Salad: Spring Greens with Fig & Pomegranate Vinaigrette.

Emergent Memory Entree: Lamb Stew with Cannellini Beans, Braised Greens, Lentils and Carrots served over Cous-cous.

Fortuitous Discovery Dessert: Rhubard and Botanical Honey Shortcake with Spruce-tip Chantilly Cream.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM:

“A documentary about building an ark turns into a funny, thoughtful rumination on the nature of human preservation.”

The New York Times

“Deeply philosophical, poignant, and profound.”  — FILM THREAT
