About the Event

STARLESS: Two film students attending a desolate liberal arts college in the midwest go missing one late night while working on their video projects for finals week. Their disappearance triggers a series of events involving a mysterious key, a shady criminal organization run by punks, alternate realities, a gas-mask wearing performer with apocalyptic visions, esoteric rituals in the woods, a neck tattooed cowboy-boot salesman, a snakeskin jacket wearing hitman who hates his job, and a demonic crime boss with plans of world domination. At the center of it all is Matty, a fellow student who is determined to discover the truth, find their missing friends, and initiate an end to all the madness.

EPILEPSY WARNING: This film contains several sequences feature flashing lights/strobing.

"When making films I enjoy turning it into a collaborative experience by allowing my actors to shape their characters how they see fit, improvise their lines while still following the story and give their own artistic input. Sometimes new ideas flow in in the middle of a scene and it will change the entire course of the narrative, the atmosphere, and add inspired depth to the psyche of the characters. My advice to all young filmmakers without a budget is be spontaneous, allow your most out there or illogical ideas and visuals to come to life, and don't be scared to throw the rulebook in the trash once you learn the rules." -Colby Betz
