About the event

Multi-faceted songwriter, composer and psychedelic-thinker Ross Goldstein is releasing a new cinematic instrumental work: Timoka. The bright harp sounds that usher the listener in on opening track “Obsidian Cat” suggest a warmth and tentative curiosity, almost like a wordless narrator letting the audience know that all the doors are open if they chose to enter.  Through string flourishes, suspended harmony, slowly unfurling gong and cymbal sounds, chimes brushed with slight dissonance, the album scores a journey taken to discover a unique Shangri-La, one that stretches out over both imagined desert planets and more organic, personally drawn territory.

Brian Dewan, who will be accompanying Goldstein on the organ, has previously collaborated with musicians such as They Might Be Giants and David Byrne of the Talking Heads. In addition to playing and composing music, Dewan also builds analog synthesizers in custom cabinetry inspired by New England churches and 1940s schoolhouse architecture.
