About the event

Nathan Elsbernd is a church musician who advocates for community-centered music. Currently, he is the Organist and Director of Music at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in New Haven, Connecticut. Additionally, he is a student at the Yale School of Music and the Institute of Sacred Music, studying organ with James O’Donnell. Last year, Nathan graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa where he was the first Luther College Church Music Fellow, serving as an organist, collaborative pianist, and conductor. During his time at Luther, he studied with Gregory Peterson and Alexander Meszler (who is the Board Vice President of Epsilon Spires!). Nathan was named as a member of The Diapason’s “20 Under 30” Class of 2023 and will play as a “Rising Star” at the 2024 National American Guild of Organists Convention.

Prelude and Fugue in A minor, BWV 543 -- J.S. Bach (1686 - 1750)

Sonata No. 6 in D minor, Op. 56, No. 6 -- Felix Mendelssohn (1809 - 1847)

Chorale No. 1 in E Major -- Cesar Franck (1822 - 1890)

Toccatina on 'Here Comes the Sun' -- arr. Paul Ayres (b. 1970)
