The Pandora Consort returns to our Sanctuary to explore the mystical visions of 12th century composer, theologian, philosopher, botanist, and doctor, Hildegard von Bingen through her spiritual music for voice and harmonium accompanied by animated projections of her most famous divine illuminations.

Our GRRLS TO THE FRONT series continues with a recording residency and performance by The Pandora Consort of Hildegard von Bingen: Vision in Vision: Doors 7pm, Performance 7:30pm. We will be offering refreshments such as mead by Golden Rule and Hildegard's "Cookies of Joy" to “calm all bitterness of the heart and mind, open your heart and impaired senses, and make your mind cheerful.” Co-curated by IN-SITU Polyculture Commons.
Hildegard is an impressive figure in many regards; she was a theologian, philosopher, botanist, doctor, magistra (mother superior), and one of the first named composers of music. Hildegard experienced visions (“umbra viventis lucis” or “the reflection of the living light”) from the age of three up to her death, and many of her writings and illuminations are a result of these visions.
