About the event

CV & JAB is the collaboration of composer Christina Vantzou and John Also Bennett. The pair utilize electronics, field recordings, various wind and virtual instruments, and piano to create delicate, impressionistic soundspaces. Their first release, Thoughts of a Dot as it Travels a Surface, was recorded in collaboration with visual artist Zin Taylor in Münster, Germany. Taylor invited the duo to interpret his ninety-meter panoramic wall drawing as a musical graphic score; the live performance of which was released as an LP on Shelter Press in 2018 to much acclaim. For this performance, CV & JAB debut new music from an upcoming release, which draws inspiration from ancient Greek pithos, or vessel. Conscious of the interplay between their acoustic creations and the physical environment that sound-waves inhabit, CV & JAB believe that the physical space in which a piece is performed plays an important role in the composition. Thus every surface and audience member physically tunes and influences the performance itself.

Anomali is a sound and visual artist originally from Maine and currently based in southern Vermont. Their soundworks draw as much from the new-age healing pieces she was introduced to as a child as from the realm of experimental noise. Melding vibraphone, electronics, and voice, Anomali brings her solo ‘vibradrone’ to the sanctuary for the first time.
