Avant Pro Musica Presents: Comfort Link -Liz Meredith -Horaflora!

Raub Roy is a multidisciplinary sound artist, organizer, and technician working in experimental music, electroacoustic performance, field recording, and site-responsive sound. Performing under the names Horaflora and Scy1e, he has spent the past two decades building immersive listening situations from humble materials: radios, small speakers, cassette players, resonant rooms, reverb, feedback, and semi-autonomous sound-making systems.

At Epsilon Spires, Roy has become involved not only as an artist, but as a frequent technical collaborator and enthusiastic caretaker of the building’s unusual sonic possibilities. His work there has included practical experiments in making the space more adaptable — from drive-in-style radio transmission as a way of improving dialogue clarity in a highly reverberant room, to unrealized proposals for treating the sanctuary itself as a kind of live reverb chamber that could be routed into smaller, more intimate spaces elsewhere in the building.
