About the event

Laraaji’s first major album was released in 1980, after Brian Eno heard him playing the electric zither on the streets of New York City and was so captivated by his mystical, meditative sound that he invited Laraaji to contribute to a groundbreaking series of ambient music records he was putting together. In the subsequent forty years, Laraaji has toured the world with his innovative blend of electric and acoustic instruments, ranging from micro-tuned mounted gongs to exotic effect pedals—all of it coming together to express the sacred and the joyful in a process he describes as “free-associating with time, space, and energy.” The result is a shimmering, trance-like sonic journey that simultaneously brings listeners into the moment and out of this world.

Eternity or Bust a short film about Laraaji

In addition to the immersive musical performance on May 21st, Laraaji & Arji OceAnanda will be guiding an interactive workshop titled “Laughter is the Best Medicine” outdoors in the beautiful gardens of the Green River Bridge Inn in Guilford Vermont. This experience will allow participants to collectively let down their guard and focus the healing power of laughter on parts of the body such as the heart, pituitary gland, and immune system. Designed to encourage playfulness and vulnerability, the workshop will “relax the breath, the thought processes, the body, and leave the person in a place that's equal to the final posture in yoga classes: shavasana, or deep meditative relaxation.”

Description of the workshop experience in this Guardian article: "The Brian Eno of Laughter".

Celestrial Sound Immersion Concert  in the Epsilon Spires Sanctuary, May 20th, 7pm. Tickets are $25.

Laughter: the Best Medicine workshop will be May 21st. $35 per person. *DUE TO THE HEAT WAVE THIS WEEKEND, THIS WORKSHOP WILL NOW TAKE PLACE AT EPSILON SPIRES.
